The Happiest Place on Earth…

Stacey Martino

Paul and I just returned from taking Jake and Grace to Disney World for the FIRST time!  It was amazing!!!!

I’ve been to Disney World many, many times, but this was my first visit with our kids.  Having Jake and Grace with us allowed us to have an entirely new Disney experience!

Within the first few hours of arriving at our hotel, I noticed something very different.  Something I had never experienced before as an “adult” in Disney.  When you are a little girl in Disney, there is a “phenomenon” that occurs when the Disney “cast members” (employees) interact with you.  Do you know what it is? If you’ve been there with a little girl, I bet you already know what my new experience was!

Every time that a cast member approached Gracie, they would greet her using the salutation of “Princess”.  “Good afternoon Princess” they would say as they passed her in the hallway.  “Good evening Princess” they would say as we came back to the hotel at night.  “Here you go Princess” they would say as they handed her a bottle of water.

After about a day or two of this, I realized something.  Perhaps, one of the reasons that Disney is called “the HAPPIEST place on earth” is because they know how to treat a girl like the Princess that she is! It’s part of their culture!

When we were traveling back home, I forgot that I was wearing Gracie’s little tiara in my hair.  With all our Mickey bags and sweatshirts, I’m sure it was pretty obvious to anyone that we were returning from Disney World.  At one point, a man said to me, smiling, “I guess you are not ready to stop being a Princess, huh?”  I remembered I was wearing Gracie’s princess crown and smiled.

But as soon as he said that, to be perfectly honest, my first thought was…Actually, I’m always a Princess and I always know it.

Then I realized something…The crown isn’t for ME.  The crown isn’t there to remind ME that I am a princess.  It’s there to remind everyone else (beyond the walls of Disney) to TREAT ME LIKE THE PRINCESS THAT I AM!

Actually, truth be told, I have graduated to Queen, but you get the point.

If all men treated their women like Princesses every day, and if all ladies embraced the Princess inside everyday, then Disney World would not be the ONLY “happiest place on earth”!!

My question to you: Guys, if your woman was your Princess and wearing a crown, how would you treat her differently today? Ladies, if you were wearing your Tiara and truly embracing your inner-Princess, how would that change the way you show up today?

So, if you see me around town in my sweatshirt, jeans and TIARA, now you know why!!

Sending love,

Stacey
